Day #4 (2)

Finally, we visited the Plymouth Plantation.  The English Colonists here are in period costumes, and communicate that way, as on the Mayflower.  There is also a First Nation Village, where the Native Americans wear period clothing, but communicate in the language of 2014.

We had a wonderful meal at the Plantation, with explanations by the Culinary Director, who explained the customs and ingredients of our Turkey Dinner!!

It was great!!  Spoons and knives only!!  Eat with your knife!!  Brandon (B) was the only one I saw trying this method out!!

Following lunch, it was time to head for the airport.  We learned so much about our country, and had so much fun doing it together!!  As always, we appreciate SO MUCH that you shared your fabulous kids with us for these special days!   Just so you know, we wore them out!!

See you soon!!!!!  We're already looking forward to next year!!  Have a wonderful summer!!

Thanks again!!

Last Day #1

We had the greatest trip, but are always glad to return to our families, and slower paced lives!!!  When we were leaving our hotel this morning, we saw the film crew getting ready for Johnny Depp's new film!!!  We can't wait to see it!!!
Next we were off to Plymouth, for our last day.  We saw the Plymouth Rock, or a small portin of it, where the Pilgrims first landed.

And a replica of the Mayflower ship, on which the Pilgrims traveled.  The docents are in period costumes, and communicate in period style.  It was fascinating!!!

Day #3

We had another packed day.  The kids have been OUTSTANDING!!!!  We've had a great trip!  We started the day at Boston Commons, the home of my favorite duck family, made famous in the book Make Way for Ducklings.  It was wonderful, of course!!

Your kids took a lot of photos of this beautiful duck family, too!!

We took a short walk over to the Memorial honoring all Veterans from the state of Massachusetts.

On our way to the Old South Meeting House, we passed a statue,
and heard an explanation of one of our political parties!!

We had an awesome experience at the Old South Meeting House.  This is where the Boston Tea Party really got started.  We

Day #2 (2)

A few more shots----

More of Mike's, inside the North Church, and Paul Revere!!!!

Day #2

We had an ENORMOUS day!!  We started in the North End, seeing Paul Revere's home, the North Church and an old favorite, Mike's Pastries!

Mike's was a big hit!!!

From Boston, we went on to Lexington and Concord.

And, finally, on to Salem, where we learned about the Witch Hunt of 1692.

We also had some incredible touring of the House of the Seven Gables.  We saw homes that had been moved to the area that were the birthplace of Nathaniel Hawthorne, and the interrogations site for the Witch Trials.

Day #1

Our flights were smooth, and we were all seated close together -- a first!!!  We arrived in Boston around 4:30, East Coast time.  We were immediately whisked off in the MOST BEAUTIFUL tour bus any of us have ever seen.  We met our very nice guide and bus driver.  We had a great look at the Cambridge neighborhood, including an incredible Frank Gehry building, designed to look different (and BETTER) than the primarily block shaped buildings of M.I.T.  We then got out at Harvard.  It was very fun - they are getting ready for graduations next Thursday.  Lots of graduates-to-be taking the opportunity for some fabulous photos (also a bride and groom!!).  We walked around and saw the buildings that have housed George Washington, John F. Kennedy, Bill Gates, Henry David Thoreau, Tommy Lee Jines (who roomed with Al Gore!) and Matt Damon.  What a great start!!!!

Ready to Go, 2nd try!!!
